If you want a slim, thumbholed zip jacket for studio-to-street, or an oversized half-zip fleece for after class, the jackets and hoodies below are sold on Amazon by their own makers, and each section says what the maker states and what it leaves out.

What the originals are

Lululemon's Define Jacket Luon is a slim, hip-length zip jacket. The product page lists "thumbholes and Cuffins keep sleeves down and chills out", "secure front pockets", and a Luon fabric it calls cottony soft, sweat-wicking, four-way stretch, supportive and breathable, "with added Lycra fibre for stretch and shape retention". The body is 87% nylon and 13% Lycra elastane; the mesh is 89% nylon, 11% elastane. Lululemon files it under casual, and the colour we loaded ran sizes 0 to 14.

The Scuba has changed. Lululemon's current Scuba Evolve Oversized Half-Zip Hoodie is cut from "SuperLoft Light" cotton-blend fleece, "brushed on both sides" with a "cozy fleece interior", and the page lists a kangaroo pocket with a hidden phone sleeve, thumbholes, a metal zipper with a two-sided zipper guard, an elastic zipper pull that doubles as a hair tie, and ribbed side panels. The body is 67% cotton and 33% recycled polyester, the rib 91% cotton and 9% elastane, sizes XXS to XL, and the page's fit summary says it runs a bit large.

So a Define dupe needs a brushed nylon-spandex knit, thumbholes, pockets that close and a slim hip-length cut. A Scuba dupe needs a cotton-heavy fleece, a half zip with a stand collar, a kangaroo pocket, thumbholes and an oversized or cropped fit. CRZ sells its Butterluxe Jacket in four cuts, and the hip-length version is the Define match: "slim fit, hip length", "thumb holes keep the sleeve in right place", "side zip pockets and inner hidden pockets" and a "zipper garage" to avoid chafe, all on the listing. CRZ's fabric guide gives Butterluxe as 81% polyamide, 19% Lycra with a brushed finish and shape retention, close to the Define's 87/13 nylon and Lycra, and lists it for yoga, low-impact workouts and daily wear.

The waist-length jacket is the same thing cut shorter, the cropped athletic jacket adds a stand-up mock neck and drops the pockets, and the hooded hip-length jacket adds a hood and a back mesh vent, the Define Hooded shape. 90 Degree By Reflex: the published-blend option

The 90 Degree Full Zip Running Track Jacket is the only jacket here that prints its fabric on the listing: "81% Nylon, 19% Spandex, and 88% Polyester, 12% Spandex blends", in a slim fit with thumbholes and two front pockets, and the listing adds that it "may run small". 90 Degree sells it from its own store and names yoga, gym, running and everyday use. Baleaf: the Define shape for winter

Baleaf's Fleece Running Jacket keeps the slim fit, high collar and thumbholes but adds a fleece interior, a face Baleaf says "can handle light rain for a short time", underarm mesh vents, reflective details, two side pockets, a rear zip pocket and two inner pockets. Scuba hoodie dupes

The Gym People Half Zip Fleece Crop: thumbholes, kangaroo pocket, stand collar

The Gym People half-zip crop is the closest feature match for the Scuba. The listing names a fleece lining, kangaroo pockets, "the unique half-zip" with a "V-stand collar", a loose fit and "cuffs with thumb holes": the Scuba's signature details in one garment, from the brand's own store. What's missing is any fibre content or weight; the listing says only "fleece lined", so you don't know whether it is cotton like the Scuba or polyester. CRZ YOGA SoftAura Half Zip: softer, no thumbholes

CRZ's SoftAura Half Zip Sweatshirt has the shape, with a "high funnel neck", a kangaroo pocket, ribbed hem and cuffs and a relaxed, waist-length cut, and CRZ's fabric guide gives SoftAura as 39% modal, 52% polyester and 9% elastane with "peach-fuzz luxury" and "fluid drape". That drape is the difference: the Scuba is a cotton fleece that holds its oversized shape, SoftAura falls closer to the body. There are no thumbholes. If you want cotton, CRZ's Fleece Lined Half Zip is a "thick cotton-blend fabric with fuzzy fleece lined" funnel neck in a classic fit, again without thumbholes or a listed pocket.

Full-zip hoodies: CRZ and Colorfulkoala

If you want the Scuba Full-Zip rather than the half, CRZ's Fleece Full Zip Hoodie Jacket is a "cotton modal blended light fleece" with thumbholes, two side pockets with hidden pockets, an adjustable hood and a hip-length classic fit, listed "as a pre- and post-workout comfort layer". The Half-Zip Crop Hoodie is a "light-to-midweight jersey" with a hidden half zip, thumbholes, a hood and UPF 50+ and quick-dry claims; the Full-Zip Cropped Hoodie is the full-zip version with small hand pockets "not for phones". The Modal Soft full-zip crop is the one ODODOS weight in print, a modal, polyester and spandex blend at 270 g/m², with a two-way zip and a hood. Choose ODODOS for sunny walks and errands, not for the cosy fleece feel.

Fabric weight and sizing: what the makers say and don't

Lululemon publishes blends, not weights, and so do most of the brands here. The only stated weight is ODODOS's 270 g/m² modal crop.
