Quick answer

Buy the CRZ YOGA Butterluxe Flare if you want one flare that does yoga and errands: it's CRZ's best seller in the shape, comes in four inseams from 29 to 33.5 inches and has a back waistband pocket. Pick the Softretch Flare for a clean seamless front at a lower price, the Crossover Flare for a V-waist, the Secretsculpt Flare for more hold, and the Mini Flared if you want the flare to start at mid-calf.

In this article

Start with the CRZ YOGA Butterluxe Flare. It is the softest of CRZ's flares, it comes in more inseams than any other, it has a back pocket, and on Amazon it outsells every other flare the brand makes by a wide margin. Switch to another style only if you want something specific: a seamless front, a crossover waist, more compression, a smaller flare, a low rise or a bump panel.

CRZ YOGA now sells at least seven flare leggings on Amazon, all sold by CRZ itself, and the names don't make the differences obvious. We went through each listing in October 2026 and lined up the fabric, waistband, pockets, inseams and the height range CRZ gives for each length. We haven't wear-tested these pants; everything below comes from CRZ's own descriptions, and where a listing is silent, we say so.

If you're still deciding between CRZ and the other popular budget flare, read Sunzel vs CRZ YOGA flare leggings. If you're unsure a flare is right for you at all, our wide-leg and flare guide covers the shape, and CRZ flare vs wide-leg vs straight-leg compares the brand's looser cuts.

Every CRZ YOGA flare, side by side

Style Fabric Rise and waist Inseams Pocket Sizes
Butterluxe Flare Butterluxe High rise 29", 30.5", 32", 33.5" Back waistband XXS to XL
Softretch Flare Softretch High rise, no front seam, seamless band 29", 31", 33" None listed XXS to XL
Crossover Flare Butterluxe High rise, V crossover 29", 31", 33" None listed XXS to XL
Secretsculpt Flare Butterlift High rise, no front seam, glute scrunch 31" None listed XS to XL
Mini Flared Butterluxe High rise, flare from mid-calf 30", 31.5", 33" Back waistband XXS to XL
Butterluxe Low Rise Flare Butterluxe Low rise 32" Back waistband XXS to XL
Maternity Flare Butterlift Super high rise, belly panel 31" None listed XS to XL

Inseams and sizes are taken from each listing's size options in October 2026; CRZ adds and retires colours often, so not every colour comes in every length.

Start with the fabric

Three fabrics cover the whole flare range, and they matter more than the cut.

Butterluxe is the one CRZ is known for. The listings call it extremely soft and ultra stretchy with very gentle compression, and CRZ's fabric guide gives the legging version as 81 percent nylon and 19 percent Lycra spandex. It is CRZ's version of Lululemon's Nulu, and it suits yoga and lounging better than lifting. The Butterluxe Flare, Crossover, Mini Flared and Low Rise are all made from it.

Butterlift is described as just as buttery as Butterluxe but "a bit more compressed and thick." Secretsculpt and the Maternity Flare use it. If gentle-compression leggings feel like they're sliding off you, this is the fabric to try; our Butterluxe vs Butterlift piece compares the two in the 25-inch legging.

Softretch is described as buttery soft with a next-to-skin feel and gentle compression. CRZ doesn't publish a weight or blend for it on the listing, so check the tag if you want the exact fibres; the FTC requires the percentages to be on it.

The styles

Butterluxe Flare: the default

High rise, a relaxed fit through the leg, what CRZ calls a "bootcut wide leg," and a recessed pocket at the back of the waistband. It is the only CRZ flare with four inseams, which makes it the easiest to fit at either end of the height range. In October 2026 its Amazon sales rank was around 1,200, against roughly 8,700 for the Softretch and 12,000 to 22,000 for the Secretsculpt, Crossover and Mini Flared. Sales don't prove quality, but this is the flare most CRZ buyers end up with.

Softretch Flare: the clean front

No front seam and a seamless waistband, so from the front it's one smooth panel with nothing to show through a fitted top. It's usually the cheapest CRZ flare. You give up the pocket and a fourth inseam. If you want a flare to wear with a tucked-in shirt or a short knit, this is the one.

Crossover Flare: the V-waist

The Butterluxe fabric with a waistband that crosses at the front in a V. That waist is the look Sunzel made popular on Amazon. CRZ notes that the updated version has "not huge but a conservative flare," so expect a gentle bootcut rather than a bell. No pocket is listed.

Secretsculpt Flare: more hold

The only regular-shape flare in Butterlift. It adds an invisible scrunch and a V-shaped seam at the back, plus a seamless waistband with no front seam. The catch is length: it comes only in 31 inches, which CRZ lists for 5'4" to 5'5". Taller buyers will get a cropped flare.

Mini Flared: barely a flare

The leg stays fitted to mid-calf and only then opens out, which is closer to a legging with a kick at the hem than to a yoga flare. It's Butterluxe with a back pocket that CRZ says holds a phone with a 6.7-inch screen, in 30, 31.5 and 33 inches. If a full flare feels like too much fabric around your ankles, start here.

Low Rise Flare and Maternity Flare

The Butterluxe Low Rise Flare is the only one that sits below the navel, with a drop-in back pocket and a single 32-inch inseam. The Maternity Flare goes the other way: a super high rise with an elastic U-shaped belly panel, in Butterlift, for pregnancy and postpartum, in 31 inches.

On a reformer, a flare's hem is the thing to watch: if it pools at your heel, it can catch on the footbar.

Which inseam for your height

CRZ lists a height range for most lengths, and a flare is meant to just brush the floor. These are the listed ranges; where a listing gives no range, we've left the cell as the inseam only.

Your height Butterluxe Flare Softretch / Crossover Mini Flared Secretsculpt
5'1" to 5'3" 29" 29" 30" (5'3"+) Too long
5'4" to 5'5" 30.5" 31" 30" 31"
5'6" to 5'7" 32" 31" 31.5" Short
5'8" 32" 33" 31.5" Short
5'9" to 5'11" 33.5" 33" 33" Short

Two rules of thumb help at the edges. If you're between two ranges, decide by your shoes: flats and sneakers suit the shorter length, platforms and heeled boots the longer one. And remember that CRZ measures inseam from crotch to hem, so a high rise doesn't add length to the leg. Under 5'1", even the 29-inch will pool, and our petite yoga pants guide has shorter options; over 5'11", see the tall guide.

Flares in class

A flare with a fitted hip works for most yoga and mat Pilates. Problems come from the hem. In inversions and shoulder stands the leg slides toward your knee; that's harmless but distracting. On a reformer, a hem that pools at the heel can catch on the footbar or straps, so choose the inseam that ends at the ankle bone, or pick the Mini Flared, which stays fitted for longer. Our guide to what to wear to Pilates class goes further, and the reformer leggings guide covers closer-fitting options.

For heated rooms, the softer, stretchier Butterluxe styles are likely to be more comfortable than Butterlift. That's an inference from CRZ's descriptions of thickness and compression, not something we've measured.

In downward dog and inversions a flare slides toward the knee; a fitted hip and thigh are what keep it workable in class.

Sizing

CRZ's flares share one size chart across the line, from XXS to XL in most styles and XS to XL in the Secretsculpt and Maternity. Take your usual CRZ legging size. Two exceptions are worth thinking about. The Butterlift styles are more compressive by design, so if you're between sizes and want comfort over hold, go up. The Low Rise sits lower on the hip, where you may measure larger than at your waist. If you're used to other brands, our activewear sizing guide compares how they run.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which CRZ YOGA flare leggings are the best?

For most people, the Butterluxe Flare. It's the softest fabric in the range, has a pocket and comes in four inseams, and it's CRZ's best-selling flare on Amazon. Choose the Softretch for a seamless front, or the Secretsculpt for more compression.

What inseam should I get in CRZ YOGA flares?

Use CRZ's listed height ranges: 29 inches for 5'1" to 5'3", 30.5 or 31 inches for 5'4" to 5'5", 32 inches for 5'6" to 5'8" in the Butterluxe, and 33 or 33.5 inches for 5'9" to 5'11". Go one length longer if you wear them with platforms.

What's the difference between CRZ YOGA Butterluxe and Softretch flares?

Butterluxe is CRZ's softest, stretchiest fabric with very gentle compression, and its flare has a back pocket and four inseams. Softretch is also described as buttery soft with gentle compression; its flare has no front seam and a seamless waistband but no pocket, and usually costs less.

Do CRZ YOGA flare leggings have pockets?

Some do. The Butterluxe Flare, Mini Flared and Butterluxe Low Rise Flare have a back waistband pocket. The Softretch, Crossover, Secretsculpt and Maternity listings don't mention one. For side pockets, look at CRZ's Butterlift Wide Leg Pants.

Are CRZ YOGA flares bootcut or bell-bottom?

CRZ uses "flare," "bootcut" and "wide leg" fairly loosely in the listings. The regular flares open gradually below the knee, like a bootcut; the updated Crossover is described as a conservative flare; the Mini Flared doesn't open until mid-calf. None is listed as a dramatic bell.

The short list

Buy the Butterluxe Flare unless something specific pulls you elsewhere. The Softretch Flare is the clean, cheaper alternative; the Crossover Flare gives you the V-waist; the Secretsculpt Flare is for hold, if 31 inches fits you; and the Mini Flared is for people who really want leggings. Order by height first, using the table above, and check the inseam on the size selector before you add to cart: CRZ sells every length under the same product name.
