Quick answer
Buy Lululemon Align for yoga, stretching and everyday wear, and Wunder Train for Pilates, lifting and anything sweaty. Align is $98 and Wunder Train runs about $148 through Amazon sellers, so the choice is mostly about fabric: Nulu for softness, Everlux for hold and sweat.

Our top picks
- 1
The best yoga and everyday legging Lululemon makes, as long as you keep it away from barbells and bike saddles.
- 2
The technical training tight for Pilates, the gym and heated classes, a step up in price from Align.
Every Lululemon shopper eventually stands in the store holding an Align in one hand and a Wunder Train in the other. They cost the same, they come in the same core colours, they share the same high rise, and the educator will tell you one is "buttery" and the other is "sweat-wicking". That is true, but it does not tell you which one to buy for your Tuesday reformer class and your Saturday flow.
We wore both for a full season: Align through vinyasa, yin and long days of errands, Wunder Train through reformer Pilates, heavy lower-body sessions and a heated studio. This is the head-to-head on fabric, compression, sweat, durability, sizing, inseams and which class each belongs in. If you are weighing Lululemon against Alo as a brand, our Alo Yoga vs Lululemon comparison covers that; this piece is purely Align versus Wunder Train.
One note on timing. Lululemon's September guidance cut has pushed more core styles into its We Made Too Much clearance than we have seen in years, and both of these leggings appear there regularly now. We unpack what that means in Lululemon's reset: what it means for shoppers, and we return to it in the price section below.
The Short Version
Buy Align if most of your movement is yoga, stretching, walking and living, and you want a legging you forget you are wearing. Buy Wunder Train if you do reformer Pilates, lift, take HIIT classes or sweat properly, and you want a legging that holds you rather than the other way round. At the same $98, the decision is entirely about fabric.
Align is the legging you feel nothing in. Wunder Train is the legging you feel held in. Match that to the class.
Best for: Align for yoga and everyday; Wunder Train for Pilates, lifting and heated rooms.
Head-to-Head
Fabric: Nulu vs Everlux
Nulu is the reason Align exists. It is a nylon and Lycra knit that is thin, matte, and so soft that the first time you pull it on it feels like something is missing. There is almost no compression, the seams are minimal, and the waistband is a wide, unlined band of the same fabric. It moves with you rather than against you.
Everlux is a denser, smoother knit built for sweat. It has a cool, slightly slick hand, a more structured drape, and it wicks and dries noticeably faster. Where Nulu feels like skin, Everlux feels like a very good technical tight. Pull the two on back to back and the difference is obvious within a minute: Nulu vanishes, Everlux holds.
Winner: a draw, because they are answering different questions. Nulu for comfort, Everlux for performance.
Feel and compression
Align is light compression at most. It smooths, it does not sculpt, and in a deep squat or a long lunge it simply follows. That is perfect for yin and restorative classes, and for a 75-minute vinyasa where you want nothing pressing on your ribs in twists.
Wunder Train is medium to firm compression. The waistband is taller and more structured, the leg is snug through the thigh and calf, and there is a feeling of support through the glutes and quads under load. On a reformer, in footwork and long-box series, that support means the legging stays exactly where you put it. Under a barbell, it is the difference between a legging that sits still and one that migrates.
Some people find Wunder Train restrictive in slow yoga. We did, in a 90-minute yin class, where the firmer waistband started to register in reclined twists. Some people find Align insufficient in the gym. We did too, under a loaded bar.
Winner: Align for comfort, Wunder Train for hold. Best for: Wunder Train if you want to feel supported; Align if you want to feel nothing.
Sweat and heat
This is the clearest gap between the two. Nulu absorbs sweat and holds it. In a heated vinyasa class Align was damp at the waistband and behind the knees within twenty minutes, darkened visibly, and took the rest of the class to dry.
Everlux is built for exactly that room. In the same heated class Wunder Train wicked faster, felt cooler against the skin, and was dry by the time we walked to the car. In a sweaty reformer or HIIT session the difference is even starker, because Wunder Train never gets heavy the way a saturated Nulu legging does.
Winner: Wunder Train, decisively. If you sweat, this section decides it. For a full kit list for heated rooms, see our guide to workout clothes for hot yoga.
Durability and pilling
Align pills. Lululemon says so on the product page, and after a season we agree. The friction points were predictable: the inner thigh from walking, the seat from a bike saddle, and one patch on the hip where a crossbody bag rubbed on the way to class. None of it is structural, and the fabric never thinned or went sheer, but a pilled Align looks older than it is. Wash cold, inside out, and skip the dryer, and you slow it down considerably. Our washing guide has the full routine.
Wunder Train came through the same season with no pilling, no bagging at the knee, and no fading in black. Everlux is simply a tougher knit, and its density is what lets it tolerate benches, bike saddles and gym floors.
Winner: Wunder Train by a distance.
Fit, sizing and inseams
Both run true to size, and both run 0 to 20 in the core colours, which is one of the reasons we keep recommending Lululemon over brands with narrower ranges. Take your usual Lululemon size in either. The only nuance is that Wunder Train's firmer fabric feels a touch snugger on the first wear and relaxes slightly; Align feels right immediately and stays there.
Inseams matter more than people expect. Align comes in 25 and 28 inches, with 31 appearing in some seasons; Wunder Train comes in 25 and 28. The 28-inch Align sits at the ankle on a 5'7" frame. The 25-inch Wunder Train lands at the lower calf on the same body, which is the length most people want in the gym so the hem never ends up under a heel. Petite shoppers should look at 25 in both, and taller shoppers at 28; our petite yoga pants guide and tall yoga pants guide go deeper on proportion.
Winner: a draw. Both fit as advertised. Choose the inseam for the activity, not just for your height.
Which class, which legging
Yoga. Align, unless the room is heated. In vinyasa, hatha, yin and restorative it is the most comfortable legging either line offers. In hot yoga, Wunder Train's wicking wins.
Pilates. Wunder Train for reformer, where the springs, straps and box put friction and load through the seat and thighs. Align is fine for mat Pilates and lovely for it, but a soft Nulu seat on a reformer carriage will pill. For the rest of the outfit, see our what to wear to Pilates guide.
The gym. Wunder Train, without hesitation. Squats, hinges and lunges want compression, opacity under load and a waistband that does not roll under a belt. Align in a heavy session feels flimsy and can go slightly sheer at full depth in lighter colours. Our squat-proof leggings guide explains the opacity test.
Walking, travel and errands. Align, every time.
Price, value and the We Made Too Much angle
Lululemon prices both at $98; on Amazon, Align listings hold near $98 while Wunder Train listings run closer to $148, so check both before you buy. Where it re-enters is durability: a Wunder Train that looks new after a season is a better cost per wear than an Align that has pilled at the thighs, even if the Align was worn more often.
The markdown angle matters more this year. Lululemon's We Made Too Much section has been carrying both leggings in seasonal colours since the September guidance cut, often at $59 to $79. Wunder Train tends to hit clearance sooner and in more colours because it is the less iconic style; Align markdowns sell out in hours. If you are patient and flexible on colour, buy Wunder Train on markdown and pay full price only for Align.
Winner: Wunder Train on value; Align on desirability.
Style and street
Align has the cleaner silhouette: no front seam, a low-profile waistband, and a matte finish that reads as clothing rather than kit. It is the legging Lululemon built its street reputation on, and it still looks the most like something you chose to wear rather than something you trained in.
Wunder Train is unmistakably a training tight. The waistband is taller and more visible, the fabric has a faint sheen, and the seaming is more technical. It looks great with a cropped hoodie on the way home from the gym and slightly wrong at dinner. If the after-class outfit matters, Align wins.
Winner: Align.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is Wunder Train more compressive than Align?
Yes, noticeably. Align is light compression that smooths; Wunder Train is medium-firm compression that holds. If you like feeling supported under load, that is a plus. If you want nothing pressing on you in a twist, it is a minus.
Can I do yoga in Wunder Train?
Absolutely, and in a heated room it is the better choice because Everlux wicks and Nulu does not. In slow, long-hold classes most people prefer Align's softness.
Does Align pill?
Yes, with friction. Inner thighs, bike saddles, benches and bag straps are the usual culprits. Wash cold inside out and air dry to slow it down, and keep Align away from the gym floor.
Do Align and Wunder Train fit the same?
Both run true to size and both run 0 to 20. Wunder Train feels slightly snugger on the first wear because the fabric is firmer, then settles. Take your usual size in both.
Which one goes on sale more?
Wunder Train, in seasonal colours, through Lululemon's We Made Too Much section. Align markdowns exist but sell out within hours. This autumn's clearance is deeper than usual, so it is worth checking before paying full price for either.
The Bottom Line
With Align at $98 and Wunder Train nearer $148 on Amazon, the decision between Align and Wunder Train is about what you do in them, not what you pay. Align is the softest, most forgettable legging Lululemon makes and the right buy for yoga, stretching and everyday wear. Wunder Train is the tougher, cooler, more supportive tight and the right buy for reformer Pilates, the gym and any room where you sweat.
If you can only have one and your week is mixed, buy Wunder Train, because it can do yoga on a bad day and Align cannot do a barbell on any day. If your week is mostly the mat, buy Align and treat it gently. Most Lululemon regulars end up with both, and for good reason: they are two different tools that happen to share a price tag.
