Lululemon Align vs Wunder Train: Which Legging for Yoga, Pilates, and the Gym?

Align or Wunder Train comes down to what you do in them: Align for yoga, stretching and everyday wear, Wunder Train for reformer Pilates, lifting and anything sweaty. This comparison is for anyone standing in front of both with the same high rise, the same core colours and a similar price tag, trying to work out which one fits their week.

We wore both for a full season: Align through vinyasa, yin and long days of errands, Wunder Train through reformer Pilates, heavy lower-body sessions and a heated studio. Below is what separated them on fabric, compression, sweat, durability, sizing, inseams and class. Which to buy

Buy Align if most of your movement is yoga, stretching, walking and daily life, and you want a legging you forget you're wearing. Buy Wunder Train if you do reformer Pilates, lift, take HIIT classes or sweat properly, and you want a legging that holds you. Lululemon prices them alike, so the decision is about fabric.

Align is the legging you feel nothing in. Wunder Train is the legging you feel held in. Match that to the class.

Best for: Align for yoga and everyday; Wunder Train for Pilates, lifting and heated rooms.

Where they differ

Fabric: Nulu vs Everlux

Nulu is the reason Align exists. It's a thin, matte nylon and Lycra knit, so soft that the first time you pull it on it feels like something is missing. There's almost no compression, the seams are minimal, and the waistband is a wide, unlined band of the same fabric. It moves with you, not against you.

Everlux is a denser, smoother knit built for sweat. It feels cool and slightly slick, drapes with more structure, and wicks and dries noticeably faster. Nulu feels like skin; Everlux feels like a very good technical tight. Pull them on back to back and the difference is obvious within a minute: Nulu vanishes, Everlux holds.

Winner: a draw, because they answer different questions. Nulu for comfort, Everlux for performance.

Feel and compression

Align is light compression at most. It smooths rather than sculpts, and in a deep squat or long lunge it simply follows. That suits yin and restorative classes, and a 75-minute vinyasa where you want nothing pressing on your ribs in twists.

Wunder Train is medium to firm. The waistband is taller and more structured, the leg is snug through thigh and calf, and you feel supported through the glutes and quads under load. On a reformer, through footwork and the long-box series, it stays exactly where you put it. Under a barbell, it's the difference between a legging that sits still and one that migrates.

Each has a setting where it falls short. In a 90-minute yin class, Wunder Train's firmer waistband started to register in reclined twists. Under a loaded bar, Align felt insufficient.

Winner: Align for comfort, Wunder Train for hold.

Sweat and heat

This is the clearest gap. Nulu absorbs sweat and holds it. In a heated vinyasa class Align was damp at the waistband and behind the knees within twenty minutes, visibly darker, and took the rest of the class to dry.

Everlux is built for that room. In the same heated class Wunder Train wicked faster, felt cooler against the skin and was dry by the time we walked to the car. In a sweaty reformer or HIIT session the gap is wider still, because Wunder Train never gets heavy the way a soaked Nulu legging does.

Durability and pilling

Align pills. Lululemon says so on the product page, and after a season we agree. The friction points were predictable: inner thigh from walking, the seat from a bike saddle, and one patch on the hip where a crossbody bag rubbed on the way to class. None of it is structural, and the fabric never thinned or went sheer, but a pilled Align looks older than it is. Washing cold, inside out, with no dryer slows it down a lot; our washing guide has the full routine.

Wunder Train came through the same season with no pilling, no bagging at the knee and no fading in black. Everlux is a tougher knit, and that density is what lets it put up with benches, bike saddles and gym floors.

Winner: Wunder Train by a distance.

Fit, sizing and inseams

Both run true to size and both run 0 to 20 in the core colours, which is one reason we keep recommending Lululemon over brands with narrower ranges. Take your usual Lululemon size in either. Wunder Train's firmer fabric feels a touch snug on the first wear and then relaxes slightly; Align feels right straight away and stays there.

Inseam matters more than people expect. Align comes in 25 and 28 inches, with 31 in some seasons; Wunder Train comes in 25 and 28. On a 5'7" frame the 28-inch Align sits at the ankle and the 25-inch Wunder Train lands at the lower calf, which is where most people want a gym hem so it never ends up under a heel. Winner: a draw. Both fit as advertised. Choose the inseam for the activity, not only your height.

Which class, which legging

For yoga, wear Align unless the room is heated. In vinyasa, hatha, yin and restorative it is the most comfortable legging either line offers. In hot yoga, Wunder Train's wicking wins. A legging can't do much about the room itself, though: the NIH's yoga safety page notes that hot yoga carries its own risks of overheating and dehydration, so bring water whichever pair you wear.

Value: which lasts longer

Lululemon prices both alike; on Amazon, Wunder Train reseller listings usually cost more than Align's, so check both. Durability is where value shows up: a Wunder Train that looks new after a season works out cheaper per wear than an Align that has pilled at the thighs, even if the Align got worn more. Style off the mat

Align has the cleaner silhouette: no front seam, a low-profile waistband and a matte finish that reads as clothing rather than kit. It's the legging Lululemon built its street reputation on, and it still looks like something you chose to wear rather than something you trained in.

Wunder Train is plainly a training tight. The waistband is taller and more visible, the fabric has a faint sheen and the seaming is more technical. It looks right with a cropped hoodie on the way home from the gym and slightly wrong at dinner. If the after-class outfit matters, Align wins.

Lululemon doesn't sell on Amazon. The Align and Wunder Train listings there come from third-party resellers (every one we checked in September 2026, in our survey of who sells which brands on Amazon), which calls for checking the current seller and returns. For the Align slot, the Butterluxe is brushed and close to Nulu in the hand, and slightly thicker, so more opaque in light colours.
