## Quick answer

For men’s yoga, choose bottoms that allow lunges and folds while keeping the coverage you want. The selected CRZ 7-inch lined short replaces a 7.5-inch Kore recommendation without its inversion test results. Check the liner yourself and choose tops for the temperature and support you need.

For men’s yoga, start with shorts or pants that let you lunge and fold while keeping the coverage you want. The selected CRZ 7-inch lined short replaces Vuori Kore as the direct-link option, without inheriting the Kore’s inversion results. Add a top that stays comfortable in your class temperature.

**Selected-variant update — October 19, 2026:** CRZ YOGA Men's 2-in-1 Running Shorts — 7-inch is listing-based and untested by us. Earlier wear-test results apply only to the original tested models, not these replacements. The listing notes identify the selected size, seller and model differences.

Plenty of men turn up to their first class in basketball shorts and a cotton tee and find the problem in the first downward dog: the shorts slide up the thigh, the shirt drops over their face, and the cotton is soaked by the end of the first sun salutation. That's a clothing problem, not a flexibility one, and it's easy to fix.

Our original review tested one lined short, two pants, a loose tee and a fitted base layer through vinyasa, hot yoga, yin and a few inversion workshops. Below is when each makes sense, plus how to stop shorts riding up, whether you need a liner, and what to wear in a 100-degree room. If you're brand new, our [yoga for beginners](https://flexwearlab.com/blog/yoga-for-beginners-what-you-need) guide covers the rest of what you need for a first class.

## How We Tested

The Vaha Balance replacement was not part of this testing and has no transferred score.

The original items went through at least six classes and three washes, and we watched for the failures specific to men's yoga clothing.

Shoulder stand, plow, headstand and legs-up-the-wall all send gravity down the leg toward the waistband, so loose shorts slide to the hip and a loose shirt falls over your face. We wore the original selection in each of those poses and noted what stayed put.

A short with a built-in liner or compression layer solves coverage completely, so we noted which shorts have one, what kind, and whether it stayed comfortable in a heated room.

Inseam matters more in yoga than in running. Shorter shorts move better but ride up further; longer ones stay down but catch at the knee in deep lunges. For lined shorts, the range that worked was 7 to 9 inches.

We wanted four-way stretch, quick drying and low odor. Cotton failed every time, as we explain in [cotton vs polyester workout clothes](https://flexwearlab.com/blog/cotton-vs-polyester-workout-clothes).

## The Picks

### CRZ YOGA Men's 2-in-1 Running Shorts — 7-inch — selected alternative

The [CRZ YOGA Men's 2-in-1 Running Shorts — 7-inch](https://flexwearlab.com/yoga-pilates/best-yoga-clothes-men#product-B09JZ24Q47) is the selected alternative to Vuori Kore Short 2.0 (7.5" Lined). **Selected variant:** men's Black, Large, 7-inch inseam, lined. **What changes:** CRZ YOGA replaces Vuori Kore or Ten Thousand Interval in general buying guides. This selection is a 7-inch lined short; it is not Vuori’s 7.5-inch Kore cut or a verified Ten Thousand liner construction. No original drying, odor-control or inversion test result transfers.

The listing confirms a liner phone pocket, two side pockets, a right zip pocket and a drawstring waist. It does not establish silver-ion treatment, a boxer-brief liner length or security in yoga inversions. Test the liner and range of motion for your workout.

**Offer check — October 19, 2026:** CRZ YOGA; stock applies only to the selected variant. We have not wear-tested this replacement.

### 2. prAna Vaha Balance: unrated hemp-blend alternative

The selected Vaha Balance is a different model from the older Vaha reviewed here. Its listed fabric is 55% hemp and 45% TENCEL Lyocell, with no polyester or spandex in that blend. It has a relaxed fit, drawcord elastic waistband and a hidden zip pocket.

The direct link selects Sandbar, XX-Large, 30-inch inseam. We have not tested its stretch, fit or performance in class and have not transferred the old Vaha rating. Check waist and inseam measurements; do not infer fit from height alone.

### 3. Lululemon ABC Jogger: the pant that moves most

The ABC Jogger is made from Warpstreme, a four-way stretch woven that looks like a smart trouser and moves like a knit. In our original tests it stretched more than the older Vaha, not the new Balance, and recovered after deep lunges without bagging at the knee after an hour of practice. The gusseted crotch and roomy seat and thigh matter in yoga as much as anywhere.

The jogger cuff keeps the hem off your heel in standing balances, a real advantage over straight legs. The wide elastic waistband with drawcord stays flat in forward folds, and zip pockets hold a phone and keys on the walk to class.

The downsides are price and warmth. It's the most expensive item here, and our original tests found Warpstreme warmer than the older Vaha; the Balance has not been compared. We would avoid the warmer ABC Jogger for heated classes. For a cheaper fitted option in cool studios, the [Baleaf men's yoga tights](https://flexwearlab.com/yoga-pilates/best-yoga-clothes-men) are a knit legging with pockets that works well under shorts.

**Best for:** one pair of pants for yoga, travel and daily wear, mostly in unheated studios.

### 4. Under Armour Tech 2.0 Short-Sleeve T-Shirt: the everyday tee

The Tech 2.0 is a plain polyester tee that has been in Under Armour's range for years, and it's still the best-value yoga top. It weighs almost nothing, dries in minutes, and the anti-odor treatment still works after months of washing. The classic cut with a shaped hem is loose enough to breathe and fitted enough not to balloon in downward dog.

It fails in full inversions: in headstand the loose hem falls toward your chin like any untucked tee. Tuck the front into your waistband before you go up, or wear the HeatGear compression shirt underneath. For most practice, including hot vinyasa, the Tech 2.0 alone is enough. Sizing is generous, so go down if you're between sizes.

**Best for:** everyday practice and hot yoga. Buy two or three.

### 5. Under Armour HeatGear Compression Shirt: for inversions and heat

A compression shirt solves the falling-shirt problem. The HeatGear Armour short sleeve stays exactly where it is through headstand and handstand, and the fabric is light enough to disappear in a hot room. Mesh under the arms and across the back vents sweat, and the flatlock seams never chafed in our testing.

On its own it's the best hot yoga top for men: it wicks better than a loose tee and doesn't slap wet against your back. If a fitted shirt isn't your thing, wear it under a loose tank or tee for the outer layer's coverage and the base layer's security.

It's true compression. Order your normal size for a supportive fit, or size up for less squeeze. UPF 30 helps in outdoor classes.

**Best for:** hot yoga and inversion-heavy practice, alone or as a base layer.

## Choosing Men's Yoga Clothes

### How to stop shorts riding up in inversions

Three fixes, most effective first:

1. Try a lined short and check the liner in lunges, folds and inversions; the selected CRZ has a liner, but its security is not tested here.
2. If you prefer your existing loose shorts, add a properly fitted support layer underneath.
3. Choose an inseam that provides coverage without catching at the knee; fit matters more than a universal length rule.

Leave basketball shorts at home: the mesh doesn't stretch, the inseam is too long and the loose cut fails in every inversion.

### Liner types

| Liner type | Coverage | Warmth | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Boxer-brief knit | Excellent | Moderate | Vinyasa, inversions, most classes |
| Mesh brief | Fair | Low | Running, less useful for yoga |
| Compression short | Excellent | Higher | Hot yoga when worn alone, layering |
| None | Poor | Lowest | Yin and restorative only |

### Inseam

For lined shorts, 7 to 9 inches. Five-inch running shorts ride up further in inversions, and 11-inch shorts catch at the knee in low lunges. For pants, pick the inseam that puts the hem at your ankle bone; a hem that pools at the heel ends up under your foot in warrior poses.

### Fabric

Look for four-way stretch in polyester, nylon or a hemp blend with spandex. Knits generally move freely; check stretch in each woven model. The selected Vaha Balance has no spandex in its listed blend and has not been tested here. Cotton soaks up sweat, gets heavy and stays wet: fine for slow restorative, wrong for everything else.

### Waistband

A wide elastic waistband with an internal drawcord flattens in a forward fold and holds without a hard edge. Avoid button flies, belts and thick knotted drawstrings at the front, which all dig in during seated twists.

### What to wear to hot yoga

In a 95 to 105-degree room, wear less and wear it fitted. What worked best for us was a 7 to 9 inch lined short, alone or with the HeatGear compression shirt. A loose tee will be soaked and heavy within ten minutes. Bring a towel for your mat, because a sweaty mat is a slippery one, and a water bottle: the NIH's [yoga safety summary](https://www.nccih.nih.gov/health/yoga-effectiveness-and-safety) flags overheating and dehydration as the particular risks of hot yoga. Our [what to wear to hot yoga](https://flexwearlab.com/blog/what-to-wear-to-hot-yoga) guide covers the full outfit for men and women, and our [non-slip mats for hot yoga](https://flexwearlab.com/yoga-pilates/best-non-slip-yoga-mats-hot-yoga) guide covers what goes underneath.

### Care

Wash cold, skip fabric softener and hang dry. Dryer heat wears out liners faster than anything else in your bag. Our [how to wash workout clothes](https://flexwearlab.com/blog/how-to-wash-workout-clothes) guide has the details.

## Comparison Table

| Item | Type | Inseam | Liner | Hot yoga | Rating |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| CRZ YOGA 2-in-1, selected Large | Lined short | 7-inch | Yes; type/length not established | Fit-check; not tested | Not tested |
| prAna Vaha Balance | Hemp/TENCEL pant | 30" selected | No | No | Not tested |
| Lululemon ABC Jogger | Stretch jogger | 30" | No | No | 4.6 |
| UA Tech 2.0 Tee | Loose tee | n/a | n/a | Yes | 4.7 |
| UA HeatGear Compression | Fitted base layer | n/a | n/a | Yes | 4.5 |

## Common Mistakes, and Who Can Skip All This

Basketball shorts ride up, don't stretch, and the mesh catches on the mat.

A cotton tee in a heated class ends up saturated, heavy and cold by the second half.

Pants that are too long end up under your heel in warrior and lunges. Measure your inseam to the ankle bone.

If your practice is almost all yin, restorative or meditation, you don't need technical fabric: loose cotton pants and a tee are fine when you rarely leave the floor. And if you already own running shorts with a boxer-brief liner, they'll do for most vinyasa classes. Whatever you wear, put it on a good mat; our [best yoga mats](https://flexwearlab.com/yoga-pilates/best-yoga-mats-2026) guide covers the options.

## Frequently Asked Questions

### Do men need to wear a liner or compression shorts for yoga?

For inversions and wide-legged poses, yes. A lined short or a compression layer under loose shorts is the only reliable way to stay covered. For yin, restorative or gentle classes, an unlined short is fine.

### What inseam is best for men's yoga shorts?

Seven to nine inches is a useful starting range, but body proportions and movement matter. The selected CRZ has a 7-inch inseam rather than the former 7.5-inch Kore cut. Check coverage in the poses you actually practice.

### Should men wear a shirt to yoga?

Check the studio's policy: most expect a shirt, and some hot yoga studios allow men to go shirtless. A fitted compression shirt is the practical middle ground because it stays put and vents heat.

### What should a man wear to hot yoga?

A 7 to 9 inch lined short, with either no shirt (if the studio allows it) or a fitted compression shirt. Skip cotton and loose tees, and bring a mat towel and a large water bottle.

### Can I wear regular sweatpants or joggers to yoga?

For slow classes, yes, but cotton sweatpants are heavy, bunch at the knee and get soaked in a warm room. A stretch jogger like the Lululemon ABC or a woven yoga pant like the prAna Vaha moves better and lasts longer.

## What to buy

Start with the selected CRZ 7-inch lined shorts only after a movement and coverage check. They are a different-brand alternative, not a tested inversion-proof Kore replacement. Add the Under Armour Tech 2.0 tee for everyday practice or the HeatGear compression top if that fit suits your heated class.

For pants, consider the **prAna Vaha Balance**, an unrated hemp/TENCEL replacement with a drawcord waist. The **Lululemon ABC Jogger** costs more but doubles as a travel and everyday pant, and it moves better than anything else here with a normal-looking cut.
