## Quick answer

Buy a CRZ YOGA flare if you want to do yoga in it: the Butterluxe Flare is fitted through the hip and thigh. Buy the Butterlift Wide Leg Pants for a stretchy, studio-to-street wide leg with side pockets, the Drapey Wide Leg for a woven-feel pant you won't work out in, the Ease Line or 4-Way Stretch for a straight leg you can wear to work, and the SoftAura for the sofa.

The cut decides where the pant works. A CRZ YOGA flare is fitted through the hip and thigh and opens below the knee, so you can do a yoga class in it. The wide-leg and straight-leg pants are cut loose from the hip, and most of them are made from lighter, non-legging fabrics, so they're for the commute, the office, travel and the sofa. Decide where you'll wear it first, then choose a style.

CRZ YOGA sells all of these on Amazon under its own storefront. We compared them in October 2026 from CRZ's listings: fabric, rise, pockets, inseams and what CRZ says each one is designed for. We haven't wear-tested them, so nothing here is a claim about fit or durability that the listings don't make.

For the flares themselves in detail, including all seven styles and an inseam-by-height chart, see our [CRZ YOGA flare leggings guide](https://flexwearlab.com/activewear/crz-yoga-flare-leggings-guide). This page is about when to choose a different cut.

## The four cuts, in one table

| Cut | Fitted where | Fabric type | Works in class | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Flare | Hip, thigh and knee | Legging fabric (Butterluxe, Softretch, Butterlift) | Yes | Yoga, mat Pilates, errands |
| Wide leg | Hip only | Legging fabric or lightweight woven-feel | Stretch versions, gently | Studio to street, travel, office |
| Straight leg | Hip only, falls straight | Lightweight technical or sweatshirt-style | Not really | Office, travel, lounging |
| Jogger | Hip, tapered, cuffed hem | Butterluxe or technical | Light yoga, walking | Lounging, travel, cold walks |

## Flare: the one you can practise in

The [Butterluxe Flare](https://flexwearlab.com/activewear/crz-yoga-flare-vs-wide-leg-vs-straight-leg) is the reference point. It's CRZ's softest fabric with very gentle compression, a high rise, a back waistband pocket and four inseams from 29 to 33.5 inches. Because the leg stays close until the knee, it moves with you in a lunge or a forward fold in the way a legging does, and the flare only matters below the knee. That's why a flare is the loose-looking pant most people end up wearing to class.

Choose a flare if you want one pair of pants for yoga in the morning and lunch afterwards. Choose a wider cut only if you'll rarely work out in them.

## Wide leg: two kinds

CRZ sells two quite different kinds of wide-leg pant, and the fabric is the difference.

### Stretch wide legs

The **[Butterlift Wide Leg Pants](https://flexwearlab.com/activewear/crz-yoga-flare-vs-wide-leg-vs-straight-leg#product-B0D49D3H1N)** use Butterlift, which CRZ describes as just as soft as Butterluxe but a bit thicker and more compressive. They have a high rise, a relaxed fit, two side pockets and 29, 31 and 33 inch inseams for heights from 5'1" to 5'11". That combination, a legging-soft fabric with real side pockets, is rare in the CRZ range, and in October 2026 it was one of CRZ's better sellers, around 1,100 in Amazon's sales rank.

The **[Softretch Wide Leg Pants](https://flexwearlab.com/activewear/crz-yoga-flare-vs-wide-leg-vs-straight-leg#product-B0FZ8Y8DTD)** use the same Softretch fabric as the Softretch Flare, with no front seam and a seamless waistband, in a non-shiny finish that CRZ says moulds to the waist, thigh and glute. They come in three lengths for 5'1" to 5'8". No pockets are listed. Choose these over the Butterlift if a clean front matters more to you than pockets.

Both work for a gentle class if the hem doesn't pool at your heel, but a wide leg has much more fabric moving around your ankles than a flare, and on a reformer that fabric can catch.

### Lightweight, woven-feel wide legs

The **[Drapey Wide Leg Casual Pants](https://flexwearlab.com/activewear/crz-yoga-flare-vs-wide-leg-vs-straight-leg#product-B00VT1PTZK)** are a different thing: CRZ calls the fabric "Feathery-Fit," lightweight and breathable but "not clingy," and only slightly stretchy. They have two side pockets plus an inner pocket and come in 28, 30 and 32 inches. CRZ lists them for casual wear, travel, errands and work, not for workouts. Of everything here, they look least like activewear.

The **[Lightweight Wide Leg Crop Pants](https://flexwearlab.com/activewear/crz-yoga-flare-vs-wide-leg-vs-straight-leg#product-B0D2RF56QW)** come in a single 25-inch length that CRZ says sits as a crop on 5'4" to 5'8" and full length on 5'1" to 5'3". The fabric is listed as quick-dry, weightless and quiet ("no swish-swish sound"), with side slits and hand pockets. They suit hot weather, and petite readers in particular.

## Straight leg: for work, travel and the sofa

CRZ's straight-leg pants don't use legging fabrics, so think of them as trousers or sweatpants that happen to come from an activewear brand.

The **[Ease Line Straight Leg Pants](https://flexwearlab.com/activewear/crz-yoga-flare-vs-wide-leg-vs-straight-leg#product-B0CW3GFNZ7)** are lightweight, breathable and quick-drying, in a vertical pinstripe. They have a mid rise, a relaxed fit, hand pockets with an inner pocket, a drawstring waist and drawcords at the hem, plus side ruching. CRZ lists them for daily wear or workouts, and the 30-inch is meant to sit below the ankle on 5'4" to 5'8". There are also 28 and 32 inch inseams. Use them for travel, walks, and workouts that begin with a walk outdoors.

The **[4-Way Stretch Straight Leg Work Pants](https://flexwearlab.com/activewear/crz-yoga-flare-vs-wide-leg-vs-straight-leg#product-B0GXDYPH15)** are the dressiest. The fabric is described as soft, drapey, wrinkle-resistant and breathable with four-way stretch, and the pant has belt loops, a faux fly and decorative back pockets for a tailored look, over an elastic waist with two side pockets. It comes in one 30-inch inseam with a high rise. If you want a CRZ pant to wear to the office, buy this one.

The **[SoftAura Straight Leg Sweatpants](https://flexwearlab.com/activewear/crz-yoga-flare-vs-wide-leg-vs-straight-leg#product-B0DFNPJ751)** are the comfort pick: a peach-fuzz fabric CRZ describes as soft, stretchy and drapey, a high rise, an inner drawstring and hand pockets with an inner pocket, in 28, 30 and 32 inches. CRZ lists them for hanging out and lounging, and they're the heaviest pant here by listed weight, about 1.1 lb in a medium, against roughly half a pound for the Ease Line.

## Jogger: soft, cuffed and short

The **[Butterluxe Joggers](https://flexwearlab.com/activewear/crz-yoga-flare-vs-wide-leg-vs-straight-leg#product-B0GDWX6DNG)** put CRZ's Butterluxe fabric into a classic-fit jogger with a high rise, cuffed hems and two side pockets, one with a hidden card holder. CRZ designs them for yoga or lounging. They come in one 28-inch inseam, so the cuff will sit at the ankle on some people and above it on others. ## Inseams at a glance

| Pant | Inseams | Listed height guidance |
|---|---|---|
| Butterluxe Flare | 29", 30.5", 32", 33.5" | 5'1" to 5'11" across the four |
| Butterlift Wide Leg | 29", 31", 33" | 5'1"–5'3", 5'4"–5'7", 5'8"–5'11" |
| Softretch Wide Leg | Three lengths | 5'1"–5'3", 5'3"–5'5", 5'5"–5'8" |
| Drapey Wide Leg | 28", 30", 32" | 30" for 5'5"–5'8" |
| Lightweight Wide Leg Crop | 25" | Crop on 5'4"–5'8", full on 5'1"–5'3" |
| Ease Line Straight Leg | 28", 30", 32" | 30" below the ankle on 5'4"–5'8" |
| 4-Way Stretch Work Pants | 30" | Not listed |
| SoftAura Straight Leg | 28", 30", 32" | 30" below the ankle on 5'4"–5'8" |
| Butterluxe Joggers | 28" | Not listed |

A flare or a wide leg should nearly reach the floor in your usual shoes. A straight leg looks best just breaking at the top of the shoe. If you're between two lengths, take the longer in a wide leg (you can wear a platform) and the shorter in a straight leg. ## Frequently Asked Questions

### Can you do yoga in CRZ YOGA wide-leg pants?

In the stretch versions, gently. The Butterlift and Softretch Wide Leg Pants are made from CRZ's legging fabrics, so they stretch with you, but the extra fabric at the hem gets in the way in inversions and on a reformer. For regular classes, a flare is the better choice. CRZ doesn't design the Drapey or Lightweight wide legs for workouts.

### What's the difference between CRZ YOGA flare and wide-leg pants?

A flare is fitted through the hip, thigh and knee and opens below the knee. A wide leg is loose from the hip down. CRZ's flares are all made from legging fabrics; its wide legs come in both legging fabrics and lighter, less stretchy ones.

### Do CRZ YOGA wide-leg pants have pockets?

The Butterlift Wide Leg has two side pockets, and the Drapey Wide Leg has two side pockets plus an inner pocket. The Lightweight Wide Leg Crop has hand pockets. The Softretch Wide Leg listing doesn't mention pockets.

### Which CRZ YOGA pants can I wear to work?

The 4-Way Stretch Straight Leg Work Pants, which have belt loops, a faux fly and back pockets for a tailored look. The Drapey Wide Leg is CRZ's other pick for work.

### Are CRZ YOGA SoftAura pants straight or wide leg?

CRZ calls them straight-leg sweatpants in the title and describes them as a "wide leg sweat pant" in the bullets. The cut is relaxed and straight from the hip, so expect something between the two.

## The short answer

Buy the [Butterluxe Flare](https://flexwearlab.com/activewear/crz-yoga-flare-vs-wide-leg-vs-straight-leg) if you'll do yoga in them, the [Butterlift Wide Leg](https://flexwearlab.com/activewear/crz-yoga-flare-vs-wide-leg-vs-straight-leg#product-B0D49D3H1N) for a soft wide leg with pockets, the [Drapey Wide Leg](https://flexwearlab.com/activewear/crz-yoga-flare-vs-wide-leg-vs-straight-leg#product-B00VT1PTZK) or [4-Way Stretch Work Pants](https://flexwearlab.com/activewear/crz-yoga-flare-vs-wide-leg-vs-straight-leg#product-B0GXDYPH15) for days that end at a desk, and the [SoftAura](https://flexwearlab.com/activewear/crz-yoga-flare-vs-wide-leg-vs-straight-leg#product-B0DFNPJ751) for the weekend.
